PUBDET
PUBDET, the Presidency University Bachelor Degree Entrance Test, is the entrance examination for admission to the undergraduate programmes of Presidency University, Kolkata. It is conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board on behalf of the university, and not by any private publishing or education…
About PUBDET
The examination is subject-specific rather than a single common paper. A candidate applying for an honours course answers a question paper in the subject applied for, set at the standard of the class 12 syllabus in that subject, and applicants for some science subjects sit papers in a prescribed combination of subjects as the university requires. The questions are objective and multiple-choice, and negative marking, where it applies, is stated in the information bulletin.
Because the paper tests depth in one discipline rather than broad aptitude, preparation is closer to the school syllabus of that subject than to general entrance coaching. Merit lists are prepared subject-wise, and admission follows through the university's counselling and document verification for the limited seats in each department. The subject list, paper combinations, duration and marking scheme are published each year.
