About Indian Statistical Institute Admission Test
The examination is held on a single day in written form and is normally split into two papers for each programme. The first paper is objective with multiple choice questions and the second requires written short answers and full solutions, so working must be shown. For the undergraduate programmes the syllabus is essentially school level mathematics, including algebra, sequences and series, coordinate geometry, trigonometry and calculus, treated at a level that demands problem solving skill.
For the postgraduate programmes the syllabus follows the relevant graduate discipline, such as statistics, mathematics, economics or computer science, and some programmes add an interview stage for shortlisted candidates. Selection is based on performance in the written papers and, where applicable, the interview. The score is not accepted by other institutions.
